John Williams, Wentworth Group, to debate Jennifer Marohasy, Australian Environment Foundation

November 3, 2010 By admin

The Future of the Murray Darling Basin

Dr Jennifer Marohasy | Dr John Williams | Sydney

Writer, biologist and founding member of the Australian Environment Foundation, Dr Jennifer Marohasy will debate the future of the Murray Darling Basin with commissioner of The Natural Resources Commission, Dr John Williams.

The NRC reports to the NSW Premier on a range of natural resource management issues including land, water, and biodiversity. Dr Williams is also a member of the Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists.

Alarmed that public policy on environmental issues is increasingly driven by moral crusading rather than objective science, Jennifer seeks to provide a counterpoint in public debate.

Monday, 15 November, 6pm for refreshments, 6:30pm – 7:30pm – Talk including Q&A

PP McGuiness Library, Level 4, 38 Oxley Street, St Leonards, SYDNEY

Eric Abetz Tackles Robyn Williams on Treatment of Bob Carter

November 2, 2010 By jennifer

THE Australian Broadcasting  Corporation (ABC) is slashing the budget for its network of foreign correspondence* when more than ever Australia needs to be able to accurately and continually assess its place in a rapidly changing global power dynamic.

At the same time some local ABC journalists, like Robyn Williams from the Science Show, are peddling alarmist propaganda while denigrating our best independent thinkers.*

At Senate Estimates in Canberra* last week, Senator Eric Abetz queried Managing Director, Mark Scott, on the treatment of  Bob Carter by Mr Williams  and in particular asked why the week Professor Carter’s new book was launched, instead of discussing the book, The Counter Consensus, the Science Show paraded a British journalist masquerading as a climate expert to attack a paper published by Professor Carter two years earlier.

SA Government Cancels Wellington Weir

November 1, 2010 By jennifer

The Greens have welcomed a South Australian Government decision to cancel any plans for a weir at Wellington on the lower Murray, saying the idea was always ill-conceived… the Premier said “What we now need to do is make sure that the new Murray-Darling plan has enough water for the Lower Lakes”.    Read more here.

Oh No! More Prescribed Climate Alarmism for Queensland

October 31, 2010 By Charlotte Ramotswe

LATE last week, the Queensland Climate Change Centre of Excellence released its second report**, which was tabled in parliament by Minister for Climate Change, Kate Jones.

The Centre receives substantial funding through the state-funded Office of Climate Change, headed by Premier Anna Bligh’s husband, Greg Withers. It is an open secret that re-election of a Queensland Labor government at the last two elections has only been achieved by pandering to phantasmagorical Green demands, which have included the creation of a climate change Office and Centre.

It is therefore no surprise that the Centre’s 2010 report adopts the same alarmist tone that is invariably favoured by Green global warming zealots, including those with PhDs. The message to Queenslanders is that unless they sell their SUVs, run their cars on ethanol, and accept a tripling in the cost of electricity and other sundry penalties, then:
• Queensland will get hotter, with rising sea-levels
• The iconic Great Barrier Reef will be destroyed
• Queensland will suffer more extreme weather events, such as cyclones and floods
