Fielding the Hard Questions on Climate Change (Part 7)

July 13, 2009 By jennifer

What was “all over the news” when the [Senator] Fielding issue was perceived to be the political one of exercising a casting vote on carbon dioxide taxation rapidly became unmentionable once the topic became the quality of the science, which our [Australian] media clearly have no capacity to judge.  Read more at Quadrant Online.

King Canute and Today’s World Leaders

July 11, 2009 By jennifer

When King Canute of lore wanted to teach his citizens a lesson, he set his throne by the seashore and commanded the tides to roll out. The World in 2050: Nuclear Powered

July 10, 2009 By jennifer

MatildaWay1_Neil HewettWORLD leaders are meeting in Italy and high on the agenda is climate change, in particular the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Today’s declaration to reduce emissions by 50 percent globally by 2050 is aspiration. I say this because if it were imperative the timeframe would be a bit more meaningful.

Indeed few of today’s leaders will still be alive in 2050 and none of them will be in power.

So what will the world be like in 2050 and will this target have been achieved? [Read more…] about The World in 2050: Nuclear Powered
