In spite of this 40% drop in price for panels, the cost of off-grid solar [PV and thermal] seems to well exceed $100,000 per household. And this is for pretty basic supply which is often heavily, if not completely, taxpayer funded.
Celebs that buy remote islands and talk up their green credentials seem to spend around a mil for their one residence and still need a full diesel back-up.
The same goes for resort islands that promote the feel-good aspect of the green getaway. They are almost always taxpayer subsidised, need FF backup, give a limited service [but because it’s part of the adventure whose gonna complain] and the net CO2e improvement is highly debateable.
The energy for cooking and refrigeration for all these installations is still usually FF sourced.
The chances of this AE ever reducing ACO2 let alone AGW are an absolute joke!
